Ratchet and Clank fans, mark your calendars! PlayStation Studios' masterpiece, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, is making a comeback, this time on PC, on July 26, 2023. This port, previously a PS5 exclusive, will be available on Steam and Epic Games Store. It was supervised by Nixxes Software, a specialized studio acquired by Sony in 2021, guaranteeing a port of excellent quality.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart offers a unique and immersive gaming experience. In addition to its keyboard and mouse compatibility, the game will maintain PlayStation's DualSense controller integration, including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. The technologies included in this port are highly promising on the part of the development studio. However, one question remains regarding the game's adaptation on PC: storage management. Indeed, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was one of the first PS5-exclusive games to exploit the capabilities of its SSD. While Microsoft's Direct Storage technology could enable replication of the PS5 's SSD usage on PCs, no information on this subject has yet been divulged by Sony. It remains to be seen how the company and its development studio will approach this question.
