Hellblade 2: Senua's Saga is back in the news! After the Xbox Game Showcase and the Game Awards 2023, the game made its appearance at the Xbox Developer Direct. The eagerly-awaited game developed by Ninja Theory quickly appeared on Xbox Live to give some important information: it's official, Hellblade 2: Senua's Saga is available from May 21, 2024 on Xbox and PC. The price of the game has not been revealed, but we have learned that it will be available on Game Pass as soon as it is released.
After an announcement at the 2019 Game Awards (already), the studio has remained relatively discreet, unveiling a few impressive videos from other ceremonies, but without revealing much gameplay information. Now, Hellblade 2: Senua's Saga is revealing a little more: in particular, we know that the game's lifespan should be a little shorter than the first opus, but that it will be highly immersive and far more violent.
" Determined to save the victims of tyranny, Senua must fight to overcome the darkness of the world, but also her own darkness. Dive into the next chapter of Senua's story, a carefully crafted experience told through cinematic immersion, stunning visuals and exceptional sound."
At the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2023, Ninja Theory took the opportunity to share a technical demo of Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, highlighting the technological advances of the Unreal Engine 5. In this demo, we could admire the hyper-realistic rendering of Senua's face, played by actress Melina Juergens. While the lip-sync still betrays the fact that this is a video game, the overall quality of the animations is commendable, and suggests that the title will live up to expectations in terms of visual and sound rendering.
Note that Hellblade 2: Senua's Saga pushes the limits of real-time facial animation thanks to Unreal Engine 5, as presented at GDC 2023. The game's heroine, Senua, also gives us a glimpse of the plot when she announces her desire to destroy the gods. In the meantime, patience is required to discover this promising title and its captivating universe.
