Assassin's Creed Shadows shows off a little more... On September 12, 2024, Assassin's Creed Shadows, previously known under the code name Red, was revealed once again through a trailer! The trailer follows the one unveiled by Ubisoft at the Ubisoft Forward conference last June. Planned for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series, the game will plunge you into feudal Japan.
Originally scheduled for November 2024, the game has been pushed back to February 14, 2025. In a press release published on social networks, Ubisoft explains that it wants to take the time to develop and improve the game experience.
As far as the synopsis is concerned, we'll be able to play as two characters: a female shinobi and a male samurai, the latter supposedly inspired by Yasuke, the historical African samurai. But gameplay-wise, Assassin's Creed Shadows should, as in the franchise's other opuses, blend traditional RPG elements with a renewed emphasis on infiltration, a central aspect of the series' identity. This represents a significant inclusion of historical figures in playable roles, a first for the franchise.
And in terms of game mechanics, the trailer unveiled at the June 2024Ubisoft Forward revealed more about combat, particularly with Yasuke. And it's with old pots that the best jams are made, since the gameplay doesn't seem to change too much from the latest cuttings. Note, however, that the two playable characters will have a different approach, as the samurai will charge into the thick of it while the shinobi will be more into infiltration (with a few new mechanics, all the same).
According to rumors, the map promises to be vast too, larger than Valhalla's, but not as extensive asOdyssey's, offering less guidance and more freedom of exploration. Also noteworthy is the presence of seasons, with all that this entails for the environment.
