At the Ubisoft Forward conference, held on June 12, 2023, the Assassin's Creed franchise enthusiastically unveiled its future, presenting Assassin's Creed Nexus, the first VR opus in the franchise's history. This new iteration, which exploits the FPS view for the first time in the license's history, promises an unprecedented immersive experience for players, literally placing them in the shoes of three emblematic assassins: Kassandra (Odyssey), Connor Kenway (Assassin's Creed 3) and Ezio Auditore (Assassin's Creed 2).
Each assassin will be given a new single-player story, taking us back to their respective lands and eras. In terms of gameplay, Assassin's Creed Nexus promises unprecedented freedom, with non-linear levels and the possibility of carrying out all kinds of assassinations with a vast arsenal, all in virtual reality. In addition, several features have been designed to adapt the game to VR and FPS views, such as a teleportation system and aids for players with vertigo.
The plot revolves around a Templar project called Eye of the Nexus, which aims to use an Animus user's memory against him by studying his past via his genetic memories. Players will infiltrate Abstergo to relive the memories of these characters in order to sabotage the operation from the inside. What's more, each character promises a unique experience. Ezio will experience a harrowing conflict and revenge story in Renaissance Italy, while Kassandra will be caught up in an intense conflict in 400 B.C. as The Thirty tyrannically rule Athens, and Connor will be immersed in a world of espionage, intrigue and lies during the American Revolution.
Assassin's Creed Nexus is scheduled for release on Meta Quest 2, Quest 3 and Quest Pro, on November 16, 2023. To your VR headsets!
