The age-old art ofperfumery is a fascinating one. And with good reason: it represents the art of encapsulating a fragrance in a bottle, evoking a memory, an atmosphere, a character and much more. For some, perfume is an olfactory signature, a part of their personality. In this case, perfume is invariable, timeless, and we want it to be ever more unique. Others are more like collectors, changing fragrances to suit their mood, the season or even their look. Whatever our habits, perfume is an integral part of our daily lives: it follows us, sticks to our skin and leaves the ghost of our passage in our wake.
So, when we set out in search of a new fragrance or a renewal, we plunge with pleasure into a world where niche perfumeries, bespoke creation workshops and other intimate spots share the limelight to unveil new and rare scents. Like olfactory works of art, the fragrances are staged in this charming 50m2 setting, accompanied by a sign on which the perfumer 's words recount his creation, his inspiration and the feeling provoked by these scents. And to reinforce this connection with the art world,Atelier Parfum gives carte blanche to several artists throughout the year to exhibit their work on one of the boutique's walls.
The fragrances here are unique, and with good reason: the various perfumers who work for Atelier Parfum, whether renowned or emerging talents, take up the challenge of submitting their creations to a blind test. They have carte blanche to compose a bouquet that will stand out from the crowd. The boutique concept also invites us to put aside the vagaries of fashion and influences by doing everything in its power to encourage us to choose the fragrance that suits us best.
To this end, L'Atelier Parfum invites us to submit to its astonishing test right from the start. A tablet invites us to simply let our emotions guide us, by first choosing the "atmosphere" that speaks to us most from among three mysterious propositions. We then watch a video while the artificial intelligence analyzes our reactions before revealing the universe that has caught our attention. For our part, the test was surprisingly convincing and led us to Leather Black (K)night, which will remain our favorite, even after smelling the entire collection.
The fragrances here are divided into three opuses: the first is a secret garden that takes us on a journey from bouquet to bouquet, depicting in turn mischievous, dreamy or more sensual personalities. The second transports us to the Orient with enveloping fragrances that don't feel heavy. Burning for Oud is the perfect alternative for those who love Oud but find it difficult to wear.
Then it's off to the seaside with the third opus. Its bottles can evoke fresh seaside air, warm sand, bronze skin... All in all, Atelier Parfum succeeds in meeting the challenge of encapsulating both the contours of a personality and the emotion of memories in a bottle, and we appreciate this approach of letting ourselves be instinctively guided towards a fragrance that touches our heart.
