A listed historic monument since 1993, the Piscine des Amiraux embarked on an ecological revolution in 2015. Two years of closure to renovate the pool and bring it into the 21st century, while retaining the charm that captivated Amélie Poulain in Jean-Pierre Jeunet's film.
Designed by Henri Sauvage (who also designed the Samaritaine), the Amiraux district was always intended to be modern, with 78 hygienic housing units for its time (one of the first districts to benefit from a water treatment system and a central heating system to prevent condensation, as early as 1927) and a swimming pool at the center of the estate.
These major works, costing 10 million euros and managed by Paris City Council and the Ile-de-France region, involved structural treatment, the thermal system, waterproofing management, modernization of the technical installations, restoration of the natural lighting of the original project and refurbishment of the tiles and wooden cabin doors....
The Art Deco pool has been open to the public since November 7. Of course, as with all City of Paris pools, the Piscine des Amiraux is open to all for €3.5 (€2 concessions), and to subscribers to Paris pools (€43 for 3 months).
