Accrocamp continues to expand, much to the delight of adventurers. After discovering the new accrobranche in Créteil, we're off to discover the one in Parc du Château de Villiers,Accrocamp Poissy. Just a few minutes from Paris, we plunge into the park's lush forest and stroll to the heart of the installation, close to the playground, alongside the famous 19th-century neo-classical château.
Open year-round - The park of Château de Villiers in Poissy welcomes us to a 12-hectare estate of greenery. The château is closed to visitors, but a mini-farm with animals awaits you all year round.
The adventure trail, still being finalized when we visited, revealed 2 courses. A third, with 20 workshops and passing over the park's donkeys, was under construction and should be operational by now. In short, we had two choices this time: a more accessible course and another for the more experienced.
We start with the safety instructions and the test course, as in all accrobranches. Like the other Accrocamps, we like the continuous pulley system, which means we're attached no matter what happens, and don't have to install it during the zip lines. Double safety is still required, but in the end we only have one carabiner to detach and hang up, while being held in place by the continuous pulley.
The first course is fairly straightforward (except for those with vertigo), and is divided up according to difficulty, so you can progress according to your level. The best thing about this course is the 100 m zip line over the clearing, which makes for a grand finish.
The second course, known as Tarzan's, which also proves to be fairly accessible, has one major difficulty, that of jumping into the void to hold on to a net. There's some apprehension involved, but we assure you, once you've jumped, everything's fine. You just have to remember to hang onto the net like a spider. And if that really doesn't work, there's an additional zip-line course waiting for you.
The spot also features a harness-free net course for young and old alike. Fully secured with numerous compartments, these nets let us throw ourselves, like the big kids we are, into balls of various sizes. We finish the course with the whirling slide, of course.
The spot is open every day during the summer and school vacations, and on Wednesdays, public holidays and weekends in March, April, May, September, October and November. On site, you'll also find large wooden tables for birthday parties and a snack bar for refreshments and snacks. So, are you ready for an accrobranche at Poissy in the Yvelines?
