The French Open is back again ! Heading to Porte d'Auteuil, from May 20 to June 9, 2024, to witness the clay-court matches of the world's best tennis players. While most of them will have to make it through the qualifying phase, some have already secured their ticket for the final draw, and won't need to go through the stress of the first matches.
10 French men and 5 French women are among the lucky few, and we hope they're still with us at the end of the 3rd round! But why have they already qualified? Seeds are determined for each men's and women's draw, based on world rankings (ATP and WTA).
So, which French champions are we sure to see again this year? On the men's side, we're counting on the presence of Ugo Humbert, Adrian Mannarino, Arthur Fils, Gaël Monfils, Arthur Cazaux, Arthur Rinderknech, Constant Lestienne, Corentin Moutet, Hugo Gaston and Luca Van Assche. On the other hand, Richard Gasquet will have to pass through the qualifying rounds or receive an invitation!
On the women's side, the situation is better than last year, with only five players already qualified: Caroline Garcia, Clara Burel, Diane Parry, Océane Dodin and Varvara Gracheva. Other French players are expected to join this group of 15 athletes, if they make it all the way through qualifying. Answer at the end of May!
