Combining three endurance disciplines, a triathlon event starts with swimming, continues with cycling and finishes with a run. In fact, its etymological root comes from ancient Greek: tri means "three" and athlon "contest" and designates this three-event discipline.
Triathlon can be practiced from the age of 6, with categories for each age group (6-9, 8-11, 10-13...). Competition formats range from the XS circuit - combining 400 m swim, 10 km bike and 2.5 km run - to the XXL format, with its 3.8 km swim, 180 km bike and 42.195 km run, better known as the Iron Man. There are also several forms of triathlon, such as the paratriathlon, suitable for disabled athletes and sportspeople!
Triathlon can be done on a one-off basis, with solo training for a specific race, or throughclub training throughout the year. If you prefer to train on your own, you can choose between open-water swimming, Parisian swimming pools for lap after lap, indoor or outdoor cycling, road cycling and running!
