To mark World Mental Health Day, the City of Paris and the ASICS brand have signed a two-year partnership to improve the mental and physical health of Parisians throughsporting activities. With a view to democratizing the practice of sport among targets who devote less time to it, such as women, senior citizens and children, the operation includes free events, coaching, as well as the renovation of infrastructures and the development of meeting places for the practice of sport.
According to a YouGov study, 88% of Parisians believe that physical activity has a positive impact on their mental health. And while they tend to walk a lot, many are still considered very sedentary, and 48% would like to do more sport. The long-term aim of the "Paris, Bouge Ton Esprit" initiative is therefore to facilitate access to sport for the least active sections of the population.
Since November 9, 2023, events have been held regularly, as close as possible to Parisians, with sessions accessible to all and free of charge, with no level required, to rediscover the sensations of sport at your own pace. The aim is to integrate physical activity into their daily lives, with a lasting impact. Sports venues will also be renovated and fitted out, such as the Pershing stadium, which is to become a hub for the disabled, and online content and equipment loans will complete the operation.
After the Mind Runs phase, then On s'entraîne, on s'entraide,100% women's sessions, the program is now offering free running sessions only on Sundays in October and November, to change the vision of Sunday athletes, who have the motivation to move with regularity, and that's already very good! The opportunity to do the same with physical and mental health professionals.
