To live to the rhythm of a musical Russian New Year then head to Jazz Café Montparnasse on Sunday, January 13, 2019.
For the occasion, you'll find Tchayok. Born of a passion for Russian & Gypsy music, Tchayok made its debut in 2012 in the Alps. The trio is made up of Vladimir and Romain GOURKO, two brothers of Russian origin, and Florian VELLA. All guitarists and singers, they also play the balalaika (prima and double bass).
Inspired by this traditional music and their multiple influences (jazz, swing, South American music), they revive the style with original compositions and arrangements where written music rubs shoulders with the spontaneity of improvisation.
From frenzied gypsy rhythms to heart-rending romances, they interpret with poetry, nuance and virtuosity, magnified by the power of three harmonized voices.
The trio has performed extensively abroad, notably in Belgium, Germany, Romania and Turkey. They regularly collaborate with other artists (J.C Gairard, J.B Frugier, Gaspard Panfiloff, Pascal de Loutchek).
