After the Pitchfork Music Festival Paris and the Bataclan in May 2018, Kamasi Washington has announced he will be back in France. For this new date in the French capital, the American saxophonist expects you on Thursday March 7, 2019 at La Cigale.
Here’s a record for the late comers… Saxophonist, composer, arranger as well as collaborator of Thundercat, Run the Jewels and even St Vincent, he’s now unanimously acclaimed as one of the leading figures of today’s and tomorrow’s jazz.
Everything starts in 2004 when Kamasi Washington releases the album “Young Jazz Giants”. He’s also the saxophonist of many artists such as Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Horace Tapscott, Lauryn Hill, Nas, Snoop Dogg, George Duke and even Raphael Saadiq.
But it’s in 2015 with the release of his solo album called “The Epic” that his fame rockets. With this record, Kamasi Washington will even reach the third place of the US Billboard Jazz Albums!
After his EP “Harmony of Difference” in 2017, Kamasi Washington has released in June 2018 his second opus “Heaven and Earth” at Young Turks.
This spring 2019 is the occasion to (re)discover Kamasi Washington live since he will perform on March 7, 2019 at Paris La Cigale.
