Did you know? The city of Paris has been godmother of the legendary aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle since its commissioning in 2001. Thanks to this French Navy aircraft carrier, France is the only country outside the United States to have completed the construction of a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.
This autumn, the City of Paris announces a musical ceremony organized as part of the " Paris ville Marine du porte-avions Charles de Gaulle " event. On the program? A free concert featuring the French Navy and the Bagad de Lann-Bihoué.
To be experienced on Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 6.30pm in the Luxembourg Gardens, this concert will be an opportunity to discover the music and musicians of the French Navy, accompanied for the occasion by the famous Bagad de Lann-Bihoué.
Created in 1952 and based at the Lann-Bihoué naval aviation base near Lorient in Brittany, Bagad de Lann-Bihoué has rapidly become an ambassador for Breton music. But the Bagad is also " one of the Navy's key public relations tools ", as the official website of the French Ministry of Defense puts it.
Every year, the Bagad de Lann-Bihoué gives regular concerts, all approved by the office of the Navy's Chief of Staff. Thirty musicians, known as " sonneurs", play the Scottish bagpipes, bombard and percussion.
On September 5, Bagad de Lann-Bihoué will join the French Navy for a free concert in the sublime Luxembourg Gardens!
