Faroese artist Eivør was in Paris this Sunday, October 13, 2024, as part of her European tour. For over 1h30, the singer with her powerful, dazzling voice delivered a deeply captivating performance, undeniably inviting you to travel. Here's a look back at Eivør's beautiful concert at the Trianon.

The Trianon concert hall hasn't yet opened, but the queue is growing long on Boulevard Marguerite de Rochechouart, shortly before 6pm on Sunday October 13. AndEivør 's audience waits calmly as tourists and visitors to the Fête des vendanges de Montmartre crowd the sidewalk, drinks in hand.

It's finally shortly after 6.30pm that the Trianon venue opens its doors. While some chose to head straight for the pit, to be as close as possible to their idol, others took the decision to go straight up to the balcony to wait seated until the opening act, announced at 7.50pm.

Around 7pm, fans of the singer of Faroese origin were already numerous. There are those who discovered the artist at the last Hellfest. Eivør Pálsdóttir, aka Eivør, was scheduled to perform on Saturday at 1am, just after Metallica. It wasn't easy for the artist to play this late slot, but Eivør still managed to attract a large number of curious onlookers to the Temple tent. This Sunday evening at the Trianon, there were plenty of spectators sporting metal festival sweatshirts and T-shirts. There are also those who saw Eivør for the very first time as support act for Heilung, on their 2022 tour. There are also fans of Nordic folk and chamber pop. And finally, there are the lovers of the famous series for which Eivør composed the soundtrack, namely"The Last Kingdom". All of these audiences gather in the beautiful hall of the Trianon for a sold-out show.

At 7.50pm, the opening act took to the stage. Her name? Sylvaine. Usually surrounded by bass, guitar and drums, the Norwegian-born artist is opening forEivør solo on this European tour. Not an easy task, but one that the artist rose to with flying colors.

Wearing a transparent black outfit, Sylvaine is warmly acclaimed by the Parisian audience. The set is simple, with a white curtain behind her, on which a few leaves hang. And it doesn't take long for the emotion to make itself felt. For Sylvaine really has her work cut out for her. First of all, there's her voice, at once soft and powerful, clear and capable of going very far in the scream, as heartbreaking as it is bewitching. Then there are the melodies, melancholy and dark. Some of the sounds are reminiscent of those of Danish artist Myrkur or Scandinavian band Kalandra. Singing, armed with her guitar or even a cappella, as on the last track, Sylvaine truly charmed the ears and hearts of many in the audience on Sunday evening in the space of just 35 minutes. Some were even moved to tears.

At 8.50 p.m. sharp,Eivør and her three musicians (drummer, keyboard and machines/electric double bass) took to the Trianon stage. Dressed in an imposing dark stage outfit, Eivør chose to kick off her set with " Ein klóta "; a sublime, gentle track to start with, perhaps a little too gentle. It takes us a few minutes to really get into it. But once we're gripped by the artist's incredible voice and the bewitching sounds of her songs, we won't be able to get out of this journey until the end of the set, at around 1h35.

As Eivør explains on stage at the Trianon, this concert is meant to be special. For the artist released"Enn", her new studio opus, in June 2024. So, the singer and musician warns, she will be playing the entire new album tonight, and in tracklist order. In fact, the artist quickly segues into the magnetic " Jarðartrá ", followed by the heady " Hugsi bert um teg " and the bewitchingly poetic " Purpurhjarta ", also taken from her latest album. These soaring, poetic tracks are an undeniable invitation to travel, to the wild, remote lands of his homeland: the Faroe Islands.

But Eivør doesn't shy away from playing a few older tracks either, including the electro-pop " Let It Come ", the enchanting " Skyscrapers " and, of course, the fascinating " Trøllabundin ". For this track, which has something profoundly shamanic about it, the musician and singer takes to her famous drum, before the excited eyes of the audience, who find themselves hypnotized by the artist's extraordinary voice and her strokes on the drumhead. Beautiful, magical and moving.

And fans won't be disappointed either, as Eivør has other delicious moments in store for them, such as the excellent " Upp Úr Øskuni ", our favorite track from the new album, or " Salt ", where the artist, like a warrior, once again takes hold of her shamanic drum, as if to invite us all to commune once again.

The audience's applause is warm and energetic, to the point of surprising Eivør, who is visibly moved and happy by this Parisian concert given in this " very beautiful concert hall ", as she puts it.

After a well-deserved encore, Eivør returns to the Trianon stage one last time, to give a masterly rendition of the beautiful track " Falling Free", still carried by his voice, transporting us far, far away from Paris, into a reassuringly imaginary world.

As if to prolong this moment suspended in time, Eivør even granted herself a thirty-minute autograph session with her fans, just after this very fine performance from which some fans seem to be having trouble recovering.
