And with good reason, La Défense Jazz Festival returns this summer to the Place de La Défense, its historic site, with a new and exceptional 47th edition punctuated by free, open-air concerts.
Once again this summer, a variety of artists from a wide range of musical backgrounds will be on hand every lunchtime and evening to delight your ears and eyes. Last year, several talented artists lit up the festival by playing and interpreting several of their hits. This 2023 edition was also marked by the cancellation of the last concerts, following a prefectoral decree issued in response to the riots that followed Nahel's death. As a result, concerts by Fatoumata Diawara, Joey Bada$$, Tigran Hamasyan and Marcus Miller were unfortunately cancelled.
So, this year, who has the honor of treading the ephemeral stage set up on the Place de La Défense? Well, American singer Gregory Porter has been announced as the headliner, along with the talented Imany, American DJ and producer Jeff Mills and American jazz pianist and composer Tigran Hamasyan! In addition to these big names in jazz, the Ile-de-France festival also welcomes new musical nuggets with the 47th Concours National de Jazz, scheduled for June 26 and 27, from 12pm to 2pm.
As a reminder, the festival offers weekday concerts at 12pm, then at 6 or 7pm. On weekends, musical evenings are not to be missed, starting at 8:30 p.m., with a top-notch, free program every time!
