With its exhibition Peru before the Incas, the Musée du Quai Branly reveals the history of the now-forgotten societies that populated Peru and the Andean Cordillera as long as 1500 years ago. Ceramic and wooden objects, gold jewelry, ornaments and emblems: over 300 objects are brought together to show the primordial influence that Andean societies had on subsequent civilizations, notably the Incas.

The Musée du Quai Branly offers us a new perspective on Inca civilization with its exhibition Peru before the Incas on view from November 14, 2017 to April 1, 2018.

In a large, beautiful space, the Parisian museumdedicated to the societies of South America, Africa and Asia reveals webs of world history as discoveries are made.

After the major exhibition on the Maori people, the Musée du Quai Branly takes us to the Andes Cordillera with an exhibition revealing life in Peru before the Incas , and the richness of pre-Incan civilizations. Cupisnique, Mochica, Chimú, Lambayeque, these societies all played a part in the advent of one civilization, the Inca.

Thanks to recent archaeological advances in the region - at the Huacas sites near Trujillo or the royal tombs of Sipán - and through more than 300 objects, the Musée du Quai Branly offers us a beautiful testimony to a political system that has now disappeared.

How did society function? With bowls, vases bearing the effigies of kings and gods, ornaments and testimonies dating back over 2,500 years, theexhibition focuses on the territory of Peru's northern coast, celestial power, power and architecture, terrestrial power and power exercised by women!

After this exhibition, we promise you'll know more about the history of Inca civilization, ultimately the result of the social development of indigenous peoples before the Spanish conquest of the territory.
