Insects sculpted by talented François Chapelain-Midy are displayed as part of the Carapaces et Sortilèges exhibition running from October 3, 2019 to January 6, 2020 at the Jardin des Plantes Grandes Serres.

A microcosmos is coming to Jardin des Plantes Grandes Serres. From October 3, 2019 to January 6, 2020, discover about thirty works by François Chapelain-Midy in the Carapaces et Sortilèges exhibition.

Scattered in the four greenhouses of the garden, these sculptures will appear at the bend of an alley, between the foliage or proudly standing in the middle of a flowerbed.

Français Chapelain-Midy was a plastic artist who used to work as a taxidermist, restoring and basing minerals and primitive art. In the meantime, he also worked as a set designer for theater and museums, the latter started sculpting works inspired by nature and insects.

Starting from October 2019, discover the works created by this artist who trained at the Ecole Boulle and enter François Chapelain-Midy’s poetic universe. His works represent beetles, maybugs, grasshoppers and stag beetles made of burnished chiseled bronze going from brown to green.

The biggest sculpture exhibited measures 2m50, while the smallest ones are only a few centimeters!

In other words, a lovely walk in Paris this September!
