Paris Palais Galliera reopens after two years' work funded by Maison Chanel. To mark this event, the museum hosts its first Parisian retrospective devoted to one of the greatest fashion symbols: Coco Chanel. The exhibition, named “Gabrielle Chanel, manifeste de mode” [Gabrielle Chanel, fashion manifesto] will be displayed from May 19 to July 18, 2021. Since it reopened, the exhibition has been highly coveted by art and fashion fans: think about booking tickets ahead of your visit.
The exhibition highlights the greatest creations of the female designer, such as her jersey models, the famous suit from the 1950s and her iconic dresses. The museum doesn’t stop at clothes designed by Coco Chanel, a selection of jewels, accessories and perfumes recreate the vision of Chanel about fashion and haute couture.
Whether you are a fashion victim or fond of French culture or an absolute fan of the designer, the Gabrielle Chanel exhibition can draw’s everyone interest. The museum highlights a major art figure that deeply influenced fashion until nowadays.
The Palais Galliera enjoys rooms on the ground floor and got extra 670sqm of exhibition space fitted in the museum cellars. The two new floors can house big and temporary exhibitions or a selection of pieces from the permanent collections. The new galleries are named after Gabrielle Chanel. With this layout, the Palais Galliera wishes to become the first French fashion museum exhibition permanent works.
Even though it closed, Paris fashion museum remained active. It has organized the “Back Side, Fashion from behind” exhibition displayed at the musée Bourdelle. After its reopening, the Palais Galliera has resumed work with a few novelties: a bookstore, a seasonal café and an instructive workshop.
