Beauty is cultivated at the Jardin des Plantes! This is the credo of Chanel, which is offering us the chance to discover the secrets behind the manufacture of its skincare products in a free presentation. The program includes an installation that opens the doors of its "open-air laboratories", where the plants used in its skincare products are produced.
Chanel wishes to explain that "the invention of an active ingredient does not exist without the invention of the gesture that accompanies it". In the museum's Mineralogy gallery, but also and above all an ode to plants, including vanilla, green coffee and camellia, respectively produced in Madagascar, Costa Rica and France. They will be accompanied by rare items conserved by the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle, all in a scenography that attempts to reproduce nature.
After these discoveries, it's off to the Chanel laboratories, reproduced for the occasion, for a quick explanation of the PFA process used by the brand to recover the best from each plant. Researchers are on hand to answer our questions, for an unprecedented moment of exchange!
On the exhibition website, it says that all the tickets have been sold out, but don't panic, it's perfectly possible to get on site from 10am to 5pm, except on Thursday when entry is from 12.15pm. Once you're there, don't forget to take an hour or two to stroll around the Jardin des Plantes and visit its Grandes Serres, which reproduce tropical forests , or the magnificent Precious Stones exhibition presented with Van Cleef & Arpels at the Muséum.
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
