Rodin en son jardin (Rodin in his garden) is the name of the beautiful photo trail to be discovered in the gardens of the Musée Rodin until November 29, 2020. A stroll among the trees and sculptures, in the footsteps of the artist who walked these paths more than once. Discover this itinerary punctuated by old photographs, and observe the master eye-to-eye.
A total of 35 photographs have been extracted from the museum's collections and scattered along the garden's pathways. Follow the trail to discover these rarely exhibited prints, commissioned by Rodin himself to promote his work and document his artistic process.
The tour begins in the Cour d'Honneur, where the photos reveal moments in Auguste Rodin's life when he was living in theHôtel Biron, between 1908 and 1917. We then move on to the undergrowth. Between the bronzes of Les Bourgeois de Calais and Victor Hugo, snapshots reveal the life of these works.
By the pond, photographs show whatthe garden looked like in Rodin's time, before it was redeveloped in 1927. Finally, the museum showcases four photographers ' views of Rodin's sculptures: the colorful purity of Jacques-Ernest Bulloz, the romantic spirit of Stephen Haweis & Henry Coles, the mise en scène ofEugène Druet and the studio poetry of Charles Bodmer.
After your visit to the Musée Rodin, whether to admire thecurrent exhibition or to enjoy a meal at theAugustine, the museum's restaurant, take a stroll through the gardens and walk the paths alongside the great sculptor who created all these beauties.
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
