If you never been to Versailles yet, confinement might be the occasion to learn more about this Palace of the Kings of France. On its YouTube channel, the Palace of Versailles tells us the story of the Estate, the collections, the art sectors and the daily life in Versailles. Over 500 videos are available and during confinement, lives are proposed every week, with the possibility to ask questions to the staff of Versailles.
To be immersed even more, you can download the palace’s mobile application providing a virtual tour of Versailles in 11 languages (including English, Mandarin, Spanish and Korean) through 15 audio tours: the Grands Appartements, the Hall of Mirrors, the Room of Crusaders, the Trianon and the Queen’s restored House. You will know so much more about the most iconic rooms of the Palace, a genuine sound stroll.
The most high-tech of you can also dive into the Palace of Versailles in VR. Two experiences exist and are free of charge: VersaillesVR to explore the Grands Appartements and get closer to many works of art and ExperienceVersailles enabling us to go back to the time the Embassy of the Kingdom of Siam came to Louis XIV’s court and during the Bal des Ifs, held by Louis XV.
On Versailles’s website, you can also enjoy themed virtual exhibitions: dinner at the Kings’ table, Fashion at Versailles through time and even a file about how king Louis XIV built his image. Versailles will have no secret for you! Last but not least, you can even “listen” to Versailles on the Sound Cloud channel : footsteps, birds chirping, water fountains, you only have to close your eyes and clean your head!
Here is a wonderful way to learn more about the History of France at home, to enjoy with your family before actually going there.
