Calling all lovers of cinema and space opera films! The Centre des Arts d'Enghien-les-Bains, in the Val-d'Oise region of France, invites you to discover an exhibition on SF and special effects, entitled Interstellaire, from January 14 to April 8, 2022. The exhibition has been created in collaboration with Lyon's Musée du Cinéma.
Conceived as a journey through space and thehistory of cinema, the exhibition offers a behind-the-scenes look at the use of new technologies in special effects, for an ever closer rendering and immersion of reality. Star Wars, Alien, Apollo 13, 2001, Space Odyssey, Stargate, Men in Black... We take a close look at all these films, using replica costumes, models and original storyboards.
Costume designers, prosthetists, makers of special effects models and animatronics... These are just some of the trades and tradespeople featured here, transforming their creations into veritable works of art. Videos also reveal new filming techniques requiring special effects, such as the circular screens used as backdrops for the Disney+ series The Mandalorian, which immerse the actors in the sets while allowing them to be modulated, for shots that are as close to reality as possible...
In short, a great exhibition on cinema, for all lovers of science fiction and the seventh art. Shall we take a trip to Enghien-les-Bains, friends?
