Sens dessus dessous: when art takes over Paris bridges on the Seine riverbanks

In the summer, the Seine riverbanks are a great place for Parisians and tourists to take a walk. From June 23 to September 23, 2022, these riverbanks are even more appealing thanks to installations by five artists. The “Sens dessus dessous” route is to be discovered now and free of charge!

Paris is often called the museum-city: one can take a walk and every corner is packed with pieces, remarkable monuments or buildings. And by the Seine, art is even more present: make the most of a lovely viewpoint on many landmarks and enjoy several major Parisian museums set really close to the river.

Yet, you do not need to leave the riverbanks to go and being stuck in a museum to admire masterpieces: the latter come to you and expect you under the bridges of Paris!

From June 23 to September 23, 2022, five artists install their works, murals and screenings under Paris bridges. Discover Amsted under the Pont de l’Alma, Philippe Echaroux under the Pont Marie, Erell under the Passerelle Simone de Beauvoir, ID Textile – Marion & Sylvie Breton under the Pont de Bir-Hakeim and Sébastien Preschoux under the Passerelle Léopold Sedar Senghor.

This open-air exhibition is held by the Communauté Portuaire de Paris, in partnership with HAROPA PORT and the Ville de Paris. these bodies wish to shine a light on these iconic landmarks in the city, joining the two banks and their inhabitants.

This “Sens dessus dessous” exhibition is part of the organization of the Paris Summer Olympics and Paralympics: it involves promoting monuments and historic locations in the city, all those places making of Paris a unique and admirable place. Tourists and Île-de-France inhabitants are invited to rediscover the bridges which beauty cannot be properly assessed when walking on them.
