They scare us, disgust us, we fear them... What if we learned to know them better? The National Museum of Natural History invites us to meet the Mini-monsters at the Gallery of Geology and Mineralogy, from October 22, 2022 to April 23, 2023.

When you ask someone what their favorite animal is, you most often hear about a dog, a cat, a horse, a dolphin, a tiger, a panda... And if we enter the category of insects, butterflies, ladybugs or bees can be mentioned. Lice, ticks, mosquitoes or mites are seen as insects that we would like to get rid of.

And yet, these little beasts can be just as fascinating and fun as the big ones! Let yourself be seduced by these mini-monsters, thanks to theexhibition of the National Museum of Natural History, organized at the Gallery of Geology and Mineralogy, from October 22, 2022 to April 23, 2023.

Young and old are invited to come and meet these unloved insects, which may well surprise you. This exhibition, which is mainly aimed at 7-12 year olds, focuses on seven mini-monsters: the louse, the fly, the tick, the mosquito, the flea, the bedbug and the mite. These insects have sometimes incredible peculiarities, which we discover through this exhibition.

The immersive scenography plays on the effects of size to reveal the secrets of these tiny insects. In some spaces, the little monsters are magnified from 50,000 to 150,000 times. In others, the roles are reversed: humans become insects, and flies and fleas become as big as us! Thus, we can understand how these tiny beings live, and admire their survival capacities. Sound and visual devices allow us to better illustrate the particularities and gifts of these insects, which can see 360°, detect the hottest areas, cling to all surfaces...

The exhibition also offers us some welcome advice, to avoid being stung by these little beasts, and to relieve ourselves naturally if we have nevertheless been devoured by these monsters.

Overcome your fear or your disgust, and come to meet the mini-monsters, maxi-fascinating insects!
