The Rodin Museum unveils an impressive collection of sculptures, more than a thousand works drawing a portrait of Egypt, from the pre-Pharaonic era to the Arab era.
From October 18, 2022 to March 5, 2023, the Rodin Museum takes us into the sculptor's Dream of Egypt, a magnificent exhibition that showcases more than 400 newly restored objects. Sculptures, drawings, photographs, personal archives: these numerous pieces give us a glimpse of the artist's passion for these antiquities and this fascinating country.
The works on display also highlight the influence of Egyptianart and culture on the sculptor's work: in his way of representing bodies, in the lines, shapes, and subjects of his works, Auguste Rodin let this "Egyptian being" speak for itself, following him in all his projects.
Passionate about history and the great civilizations of the past, such as Greece, Asia and the Middle Ages, Auguste Rodin developed a particular love for Egypt. He gradually assembled an impressive collection ofantiquities and monumental works, which can be found today in the Rodin Museum.
The Dream of Egypt exhibition allows us to admire these different works so admired by the artist. The exhibition also highlights the great literary, scientific, historical and artistic figures who have contributed to makingancient Egypt popular in France.
From paintings to statues, passing by priceless ancient relics, we observe the influence of Egyptian art on the work of the sculptor. The forms, themes, and subjects evolve, and Rodin's passion can be seen in the many works that he collected or created. For young visitors, special labels are placed throughout the tour.
