For the cultural back-to-school season, from Thursday September 8 to Wednesday October 12, 2022, Galerie Gagosian presents “Andy Warhol: Paris and Fashion”, a selection of shots by the artist echoing to fashion. The photo display evolves around 4 major themes: Andy Warhol, Paris, fashion and celebrities.
The famous plastic artist made these single gelatin silver print when traveling in Paris from the 1970’s to the mid-1980’s. along his stays, he seized the essence of fashion in every single light, from the iconic Parisian landmarks to portraits of famous fashion designers such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Hubert de Givenchy, Azzedine Alaïa and Sonia Rykiel. A “collection” of pictures celebrating Paris and affirming its reputation as the world’s capital city of fashion.
In the gallery, walk around self-portraits, streets and monuments alluding to the Parisian fashion scene and polaroid shots of actors, stylists and models from all backgrounds. “Andy Warhol: Paris and Fashion” also displays several shots ordered by Vogue as well as polaroids ordered by Warhol for brands such as Halston and Levi’s.
