Picasso is mostly famous for his huge and easily recognizable paintings. But did you know the Spanish artist was talented at creating three-dimension pieces? Yes, Pablo Picasso was also a sculptor!
The Galerie de l’Institut gives us to see this facet of the artist with an exhibition devoted to Picasso’s sculpture. From October 14 to December 17, 2022, over a hundred works are gathered for the “Picasso. Sculptures 1902-1962” exhibition to visit for free.
Discover over 70 sculptures and 35 drawings and paintings made over his 60-year-long career, displaying the artist’s favorite themes, as well as his creative process. The exhibition is divided into two categories: bestiary and figure. Animals and portraits are set across one another in this never-before-seen exhibition enabling us to admire some exceptional pieces. Among the gems highlighted, discover Picasso’s first cubist sculpture.
These pieces tell us more about the artist’s daily life and passions as he was always working and redefining his subjects by stroking or chiseling his way of thinking.
Paintings and sculptures seem to have a chat and answer each other in this tour showing the very diversity of one of the most famous artists’ career and work.
