In honor of the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Pablo Picasso, the commune of Barbizon has invited 53 contemporary artists to express their personal interpretation of the work of the famous Spanish painter. The exhibition, which awaits you from April 8 to June 10, 2023, brings together, on more than 300 m², contemporary artists with varied styles, techniques and sensibilities, ranging from visual artists to photographers, including digital artists and street artists.
The link between Barbizon and Picasso is not limited to the exhibition, since the artist stayed in 1942 several times in the boarding house Bouvard, which became the "Manoir Saint-Hérem". The curator of the exhibition has been entrusted to Jean-Michel Gout-Werner and Jacques Simonin, both art market professionals and organizers of the exhibition "L'Angélus a 150 ans" in 2010.
The exhibition awaits you in theEspace culturel Marc Jacquet, which is transformed into a real museum free of charge for the occasion. Large sculptures are installed outside. The curators have called upon specialists for the scenography of the exhibition, the graphic design of the paper supports and the photography of the works.
