From Jean-Luc Godard to Annie Girardot, through Jean Gabin, François Truffaut, Alain Delon or Belmondo... He met all the greatest, immortalized all the great moments of French cinema in the post-war years. Alain Adler is a renowned photographer, honored by the Roger-Viollet gallery through an exhibition to be discovered from April 6 to June 24, 2023. If you haven't seen the first presentation of these photographs, this winter at the Pathé Les Fauvettes cinema, don't miss this exhibition!
We go to discover a series of pictures taken between 1954 and 1964. Alain Adler travelled around the movie sets during the early days of the New Wave movement. He was there to photograph the backstage of the film Breathless, he was there during the shooting of Shoot the Pianist... He met the iconic filmmakers of this period, the leading actresses and actors of this period... The Roger-Viollet gallery condenses this rich career with 86 photographs exhibited this spring.
In his images, the photographer gives pride of place to these stars of the seventh art, who still make the reputation of France. These artists are caught on the spot, in the middle of a game or at rest, between two takes. Their talent and intimacy are displayed by Alain Adler's knowledgeable eye, which allows us to see these great stars in a different light.
Humor, French class, elegance, emotion: the photographer captures in an instant a myriad of feelings on his pictures, and makes these great actors closer to us.
A magnificent free exhibition, that film lovers must discover without delay!
