The Musée Jacquemart-André is devoting an exhibition to the Italian artist Giovanni Bellini from March 3 to July 17, 2023. A one-of-a-kind plunge into the heart of Renaissance art, but above all into the world of this artist, considered one of the precursors of the Venetian school. LAST DAYS.

Renaissance art lovers, this is the exhibition for you! The Musée Jacquemart-André invites you to discover its latest retrospective on the Italian artist Giovanni Bellini, from March 3 to July 17, 2023. The exhibition focuses on this great master of painting from the second half of the 15th century, a precursor of theVenetian school that included Giorgione and Titian. Let's make the most of the last few days to discover it!

A master who paved the way for color and tone (the art of colorito, of which he was the precursor), marking the entire 16th century in Venice and inspiring many painters of the period. Born into a family of artists, Giovanni Bellini, along with his brother Gentile Bellini, frequented the studio of his father, none other than Jacopo Bellini, "apainter with a Gothic background who soon became familiar with the Renaissance innovations coming out of Florence". Giovanni drew inspiration for his art not only from their work, but also from that of his father-in-law, Andrea Mantegna.

In all, some fifty works, all from European public and private collections (Gemäldegalerie, Berlin; Petit Palais, Paris; Galleria Borghese, Rome; Museo Correr and Gallerie dell'Accademia, Venice, etc.), await the curious, retracing the history of his art.) await the curious, tracing the prolific career of this great master and revealing how "his artistic language never ceased to renew itself throughout his career, while retaining an undeniable share of originality" through a thematic-chronological itinerary. The works also engage in dialogue with the "models" who inspired them, from his brother and father to artists of the Venetian school, such as Titian, prompting the old artist to reinvent his style, particularly at the end of his life.

An exhibition not to be missed!
