Fifty years after his death, Pablo Picasso continues to fascinate and inspire the public and artists. To pay tribute to this major figure in art, the Picasso Museum in Paris is organizing a new exhibition, to be discovered from March 7 to August 27, 2023.
Entitled Celebration Picasso, the Collection Takes on Color, this exhibition features the Spanish artist's greatest masterpieces. To give these creations a new and modern twist, the museum called on designer Sir Paul Smith, a fashion designer known for his talent in blending the modern with the traditional.
This exhibition highlights different works of Picasso, in a colorful and contemporary scenography, which encourages us to see these mythical works in a new light. In this way, Paul Smith underlines the timeless and modern character of these paintings and sculptures, which may already be more than a century old!
The exhibition also allows us to admire the creations ofcontemporary artists, such as Guillermo Kuitca, Obi Okigbo, Mickalene Thomas or Chéri Samba. Through the play of the scenography, old and new works can then dialogue, enrich each other, question each other.
This colorful and improved itinerary allows to highlight the works of the permanent collection and the creations of contemporary artists. This dynamic and original scenography attracts the eye and allows us to see the works on display differently. Each scene takes us into a small pop and colorful universe.
A whimsical and innovative artist, Pablo Picasso continues to influence contemporary art and inspire new creators, whether they are painters, sculptors, video artists or designers!
Come and discover this beautiful tribute exhibition at the Picasso Museum.
