A subject: Maere, kaitango and five other children from the Himba tribe living in Namibia.
Two artists: Jeremy Garamond the photographer, Seny the painter.
Yet there's no sense of repetition between the two artists' works. In fact, quite the opposite is true, with two visions that complement each other perfectly!
It'sa dialogue in the noblest sense of the word, with both artists mutually enriching each other's work. The photographer's language is not the same as the painter's, and vice versa, yet their encounter blossoms into a harmonious mutual understanding.
The smooth rendering of the photograph, the purity of its grain, initiates this correspondence with its recipient, whose sound and voice respond to it as if in negative, with a tessitura all in matter, in texture and also with a rougher aspect.
Seny's subject, laid down on metal, intervenes in this score like an augmented reality. And the magic happens, leaving us with the indescribable, powerful feeling that, through the intercession of Jeremy Garamond's photographic talent and Seny's pictorial virtuosity, we're able to get as close as physically possible to the protagonists of this story!
Maere and kaitanga and all those Himba children living in Namibia, 10,000 kilometers away, seem to have never been so close to us.
