The Senate and its Jardin du Luxembourg welcome us once again for an open-air photo exhibition, this time on the theme of sport! In partnership with National Geographic, nearly 80 exceptional photographs will be presented to the public, highlighting the history of different sports and their values, through contemporary portraits or spectacular archive images. Less than a year before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, enjoy the powerful emotions that shine through in these snapshots, from September 16, 2023 to January 14, 2024.
Since its creation 135 years ago, the famous magazine has offered us photographs of nature, people and the world, inviting us to explore and see further. The first portraits of sportsmen and women by National Geographic photographers date back to the early 1900s. On the garden railings, this exhibition plunges the curious into the world of sport, and invites us to discover the passion and emotions of each sportsman or woman portrayed, like a link between sports fans the world over.
These images trace the history of sport through the ages, across countries and continents, but share the same values of sharing and surpassing oneself, whatever the nationality of the viewer. Come and discover the fascinating stories behind each of these 80 open-air images!
