Soo Burnell returns to Molitor. After To the Water, they're back with Into The Blue, a photographic exploration of Paris's most beautiful pools, on view from November 24 to January 7, 2024. Don't miss this unique, free exhibition.
Scottish-born Soo Burnell has made a name for herself in the world of photography with her unique take on the architecture and ambience of swimming pools. Fascinated by the aesthetics of aquatic spaces and the subtle sensations they provoke, Burnell will take you on an original visual journey through the pools of Paris.
TheInto the Blue exhibition comprises a series of photographs featuring five of Paris's most beautiful swimming pools. From Molitor, with its distinctive blocks of color, to the Butte-aux-Cailles, famous for its "piano key" tiles, each pool is presented from a unique angle, highlighting their distinctive architecture and atmosphere.
The natural light of the Piscine George Hermant, the geometric reflections of the Piscine de Bagneux, or the renaissance of the Piscine des Amiraux, each image reflects in its own way the architectural imprint and history of these unique locations. As a result, viewing these works offers a highly immersive experience, taking the viewer on a visual journey that spans decades.
"I wanted to make a collection of Parisian swimming pools in a similar way to the series I shot in my hometown of Edinburgh, Scotland. There are similarities in the architecture of many of these pools, but I also noticed a similarity in the sense of community these pools bring." Soo Burnell
