Without these artists, our favorite movies wouldn't be the same... The Centre d'art d'Enghien-les-Bains pays tribute to those who create the visual and special effects of cinema, through the exhibition Les magiciens du cinéma, presented from February 2 to May 26, 2024.
This free exhibition takes us behind the scenes of the seventh art, where magic comes to life. From Georges Méliès's first gimmicks to the latest special effects in the Hunger Games saga, discover all the behind-the-scenes artisans who contribute so much to this universe of dreams and fantasy.
Discover the mechanisms, tricks and technologies used to create special effects... But also the costumes, props, sets, creatures and unique objects that bring these illusions to life.
The exhibition features film costumes and props, painting studies, trompe-l'œil sets, miniature models... To better understand the use and importance of digital special effects, part of the tour also reveals the image modification process: visual effects are created one after the other, allowing us to see each change, each improvement made.
From Journey to the Moon to The Matrix, Batman Forever, Minority Report, Robocop 2, Hunger Games: The Crush, The Addams Family, Lord of the Rings, Men in Black and many more... The Art Center has brought together numerous pieces from major films, both old and new.
