What happens to Olympic buildings once the Games are over? The Maison de la culture du Japon takes us on a journey in the footsteps of these monumental infrastructures, with the exhibition Kenzo Tange - Kengo Kuma, the legacy of the Tokyo Games, on view from May 2 to June 29, 2024.

For several weeks, the host cities of the Olympic and Paralympic Games live to the rhythm of sport, celebrations and tourists flocking to cheer on their athletes. But when all the medals have been distributed, what remains of these great events?

The Maison de la culture du Japon is highlighting the work of architects Kenzo Tange and Kengo Kuma, the two masters behind the sports infrastructure built for the 1964 and 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games. The"Legacy of the Tokyo Games" exhibition reveals the secrets behind these great buildings, which commemorate the Games and welcome the athletes of tomorrow.

The exhibition, on show from May 2 to June 29, 2024, combines photographs, video and scale models. Visitors can discover these unique infrastructures, which have influenced modern Japanese architecture and given a new face to the neighborhoods they adorn.

The Maison de la culture du Japon also evokes the links that both architects have with France: relations with Le Corbusier and Charlotte Perriand, and Kengo Kuma's project for the Saint-Denis Pleyel station are illustrated through numerous images, models, photos and letters.

On the eve of the Paris 2024 Games, come and admire the work of the two architects who worked on the Tokyo Games, and whose legacy is still admired today. A free exhibition to discover this summer at the Maison de la culture du Japon!
