Artcurial unveils the Arts de la Table de La Tour d' Argent in a free public exhibition, in parallel with their auction (January 12-19). Running until January 17, 2024, this exhibition-sale, organized in collaboration with the renowned Quai de la Tournelle institution, offers an exploration into the refined world of the iconic Parisian restaurant.
Having recently given itself a new lease of life, La Tour d' Argent is parting with its old decor at the famous auction house down the Champs-Élysées. For one week, visitors will have the opportunity to marvel at over 320 lots, from the mythical porcelain, crystal and silver-plated dinner services that accompanied the memorable dinners of this gastronomic treasure, to unique pieces of furniture anddecorative objects.

The exhibition highlights such treasures as 19th-century plates in white porcelain with hand-painted decorations, white wine glasses in RIEDEL crystal glass, sets of silver-plated cutlery, and even historic menus dating back to 1722, bearing witness to inimitable savoir-faire handed down for centuries. In reference to the emblematic dish "caneton Tour d'Argent", duck can also be found in every sauce, in a Saint-Louis & Baccarat crystal version or in wood in a pair ofsigns. Notre Dame de Paris cathedral is also a recurring motif, sometimes as the backdrop to a "duck theater", sometimes in the foreground of a twentieth-century oil painting.
Finally, theexhibition even reveals an eclectic range of furniture, from Japanese potiches to Delft earthenware vases, mingling with Rocaille-style pieces such as a console table and a 19th-century sedan chair.
Artcurial invites you to plunge into the precious history of La Tour d'Argent, to appropriate a fragment of its timeless charm and to celebrate the art of gastronomy through an exquisite exhibition that honors the Arts de la Table of a legendary institution.
