Archi-folies: when architecture and sport meet in a free exhibition at La Villette

La Villette puts architecture and sport in the spotlight at Archi-Folies 2024, an exhibition to be discovered from June 14 to July 7, then from August 28 to September 3, 2024.

La Villette hosts Archi-Folies: a monumental exhibition showcasing the creations of 20 architectural schools. From June 14 to July 7, and again from August 28 to September 3, 20 life-size pavilions will be set up on the Triangle lawn in the Parc de la Villette.

These ephemeral structures showcase the ingenuity and talent of France's student architects, so architecture enthusiasts can enjoy these original creations. But that's not all! These pavilions are being built to accommodate Club France's 20 sports federations, during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. La Villette thus offers us a chance to plunge into the world of sport with this monumental open-air exhibition.

20 schools of architecture, 20 sports federations: so many styles, techniques and worlds come together and are on show on the lawn of La Villette. You'll discover as much about the future talents of architecture as about sport and the disciplines involved in these Olympic Games. A double exhibition, which should delight many a curious visitor!

Basketball, dance, climbing, boxing, rowing, skateboarding, wrestling... Some pavilions are immediately associated with a particular sporting discipline, while others show more subtle signs. However, as you learn about the history of each structure, you'll discover an astonishing ingenuity that links sport and architecture in a poetic way.

These pavilions can be visited freely before the Olympic Games, and again at the end of the summer, during the Paralympic Games. Don't miss out: the structures won't remain at La Villette forever. However, there's no question of destroying these creations in their entirety: they should be installed elsewhere in France or recycled after the exhibition.

However, La Villette and the sports federations are looking forward to seeing you all summer long: when the structures are occupied by the federations, numerous events will be organized for the general public.
