For the new edition of Paris Design Week, from September 4 to 14, 2024, theHôtel de Sully is adorned with a playful, immersive installation by Paul Cocksedge, the artist-designer renowned for his arty furniture and installations. In the gardens and orangery of this Renaissance jewel on Place des Vosges, Cocksedge plays with reflections to blur the lines between 2D and 3D. Using balloon-like mirrors compressed into frames, he creates a surprising interaction between visitors and the Louis XII architecture, inviting everyone to become part of the setting.
Inspired by the childlike spirit and magic of reflection, he offers a unique experience where each mirror, far from the omnipresent screens, becomes a gateway to creativity, exchange and fun. The mirrors diffract the image, reinterpreting the orangery, the gardens and the sky, while encouraging visitors to rediscover the simple beauty of their own reflection.
The most curious will be able to make direct contact with Cocksedge via his Instagram account, where he invites anyone wishing to exchange ideas to send him a lightbulb emoji, opening the door to face-to-face encounters in the gardens of Sully. These privileged exchanges, on a chair, face-to-face with the artist, promise to be as inspiring as his installations.
Already known for his spectacular installations, such as his luminescent sphere suspended in Liverpool Cathedral or the Bourrasque chandelier at Dior Avenue Montaigne, Paul Cocksedge once again reinvents the interaction between art, design and the public.
Here, every reflection becomes an act of creation in which you are an integral part!
