Automaton sculptures of the most curious and baffling kind... La Halle Saint Pierre invites you to plunge into the singular universe of Gilbert Peyre, the " electromechanomaniac ", with an exhibition dedicated to the artist from September 11, 2024 to July 31, 2025. The museum presents a unique installation combining art brut, live performance and technology. A veritable ode to imagination and recycling, this exhibition promises to amaze young and old alike.
For almost forty years, Gilbert Peyre has been an integral part of the history of the Halle Saint Pierre. His truly unusual works combine the poetry of salvaged objects with technological sophistication. His machine sculptures, as eccentric as they are poetic, are brought to life by complex mechanisms where electricity, pneumatics and electronics meet. These creations, at once dramatic and burlesque, transform the mundane into a fairy-tale spectacle, where each element tells a singular story.
The L'Electromécanomaniaque exhibition is like a journey to the heart of the marvelous and fabulous, a universe where technological progress is reconciled with DIY and recycling. Gilbert Peyre hijacks obsolete objects to rehabilitate them in creations that give new life to what seemed doomed. His artistic approach, far from seeking to dominate the world, seeks instead to re-enchant it, to confuse creation and existence in a poetry of the everyday. It is this unique vision that Halle Saint Pierre celebrates with this new artistic proposal.
When you visit Halle Saint Pierre this autumn, prepare to be transported into a universe where the magic of Gilbert Peyre 's automata opens the doors to a poetic world, reinvented by the artist. An exhibition for the curious.
