Attention Renaud fans! The famous French singer and artist Ernest Pignon-Ernest have teamed up to launch a unique artistic project in support of UNICEF. Called " Des mots et des images " , the project aims to support the work of UNICEF, which helps the world's most vulnerable children.
So what exactly is behind the " Des mots et des images " project? Several events are part of it, starting with the release of a collection, to be discovered in bookshops from September 5, 2024.
Published by Gallimard Alternatives, this book brings together a selection of 20 of Renaud's must-have songs, all illustrated by twenty contemporary artists. These include the timeless " Morgane de toi " illustrated by Jo Di Bona, " Manhattan-Kaboul " illustrated by Jef Aérosol, and " Adieu l'enfance " illuminated by C215. Other contributors include Jean-Michel Alberola, Speedy Graphito and Catherine Viollet.
" Childhood is a crucial period and a theme that runs through many of my lyrics. I'm delighted to see that, with my friend Ernest Pignon-Ernest and the artists who have come together to support this artistic project, we can give a new dimension to these songs. This collection, a tribute to children the world over, will support the work of UNICEF, the world's leading organization for vulnerable children. Everyone deserves an equal chance to blossom, to learn, to be healthy and happy ", explained Renaud in a press release published on August 30.
In addition to this beautiful book, a real collector's item for fans, the " Des mots et des images " project is also an opportunity to discover an exhibition based around these famous original works. On view from Monday, September 2 to Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Mairie du 13e arrondissement, this small exhibition is free and open to all.
To admire these works, simply go from Monday to Saturday, during the opening hours of the Mairie du 13e. The 20 works can be seen in the Athéna gallery and the Antichambre, located on the 2nd floor of the Town Hall. Each illustration is accompanied by the lyrics of the chosen song.
A mini concert has also been announced for the vernissage, not to be missed on Thursday September 5 at 7pm, again at the Mairie du 13e. The vernissage will be attended by Renaud and the artists who contributed to the book. The evening will feature a number of surprises, and Renaud will invite several of his musician and singer friends for an exclusive mini-concert. Admission to the vernissage-concert is free of charge, but subject to availability.
Finally, at the end of the exhibition, an auction of the original works will be held in aid of UNICEF. It will take place on Friday September 13 at 7pm in the Salle des fêtes of the Mairie du 13e, then online for those unable to attend.
