Welcome to Victor Hugo's table! For the duration of a small exhibition, share a dinner with the illustrious writer, in the heart of the Maison Haviland. This Parisian boutique, nestled a stone's throw from La Concorde and renowned for its glass and porcelain, is offering visitors the chance to discover the favorite dishes of the famous author of Notre-Dame de Paris, free of charge, until January 10, 2025.
Created in collaboration with Frédéric Picard, editor-in-chief of Le Figaro and a great admirer of the writer, this limited series of porcelains named"Mets Moires" pays tribute to both the soon-to-reopen cathedral and Victor Hugo, through a sensory setting that engages our senses. It's an opportunity to celebrate the arts of the table in literary creation, the latter being a place of exchange and a source of inspiration for authors, enabling them to decipher their times.
For the duration of this exhibition, we take a seat under a lamppost, on a bench, and scan an initial QR Code that makes Victor Hugo seem more real than life, thanks to technology. After listening to him tell us about his relationship with the cathedral he loved so much, he invites us to discover the meal that awaits him. As we explore, we listen quietly as Fred Picard fills us in withfascinating anecdotes about the gourmet man of letters.
In a room created from scratch, the table, surrounded by small immersive details and a décor echoing the places where Victor Hugo lived, hosts the original porcelain creations, as well as superb ornate bells! The sign reads"Lift me up", which you'll have to do to discover the dinner menu and smell it, as you'll be able to smell the rosemary of the dish or the almond notes of the financier!
Accessible to all, this mini-exhibition allows us to immerse ourselves in both French savoir-faire and a literary voyage through time that whets our appetites!
