Several entrances are concealed throughout the neighborhood, from the Belleville belvedere, rue de Couronnes, rue Piat and rue Julien-Lacroix: access to the park is sometimes via large wrought-iron gates, sometimes via bucolic passageways reminiscent of nature walks.
With its winding paths (specially concreted to provide access for PRMs and baby carriages) and intimate staircases, Belleville Park offers a green, exotic break in a neighborhood with small-town charm. For children, it's here that you'll find - without a doubt - one of the finest playgrounds in Paris: designed around the notion of risk (even if your children will be in total safety) and built on a slope, the playground offers incredible slides, great descents and climbing tracks for all ages, from 6 upwards. Another, smaller play area is designed for children under 6 years of age, to awaken their curiosity by playing with play equipment adapted to their size.
Higher up, you can climb to the Belleville belvedere, which offers a breathtaking (yet little-known) view of the whole of Paris: Montparnasse Tower, Eiffel Tower, major historical monuments... With the sun setting or rising, there's something poetic and magical about the view that never gets old.
Occasionally, the Maison de l'air et de l'espace, located in the heart of the park, is the venue for shows and events, and if the performances take place in the open air, you're invited to sit down in thepark's amphitheatre, right next door.
In keeping with the Belleville district's wine-growing past, vines were planted a few years ago, forming the Clos de Belleville, harvested in late summer in some years. As the warm weather approaches, the park's large lawns are swamped by outdoor picnic/apéro aficionados, and we can't blame them: with its flower beds, lush green lawns and views over Belleville Park and Paris, it's the perfect place for a summer evening!
