Many Parisians were disappointed to learn of the closure of the legendary Batofar. After months of refurbishment, a refloat and a new name - the Bateau Phare - the famous concert hall will reopen its doors at the end of 2019, with a more funk-world music-disco program and a restaurant on the deck.
While we wait for the reopening, we're not twiddling our thumbs and taking advantage of the beautiful terrace set up on the quay, just opposite the new Bateau Phare.
The project is the brainchild of Vincent Clouzeau, Cyril Michel and Vlassia Ferrie, who wanted to give the Bateau Phare and its 350m2 terrace, open daily from June to October 2019, a truly exotic feel.
And travel! Thanks to the cocktails (€12), initially created using fresh produce and syrups prepared on site. Examples include theIsland Hopping (rum, grilled pineapple, grand marnier, cinnamon, pepper, sugar, lime), the Accapulco (tequila, jalapenos-infused suze, cucumber juice, elderberry cordial, tonka syrup, ginger ale), Salome de Bahia (cachaça, lychee liqueur, curaçao, Bahian spices, sugar, lime) or Tonki Tonka (cognac, peanut butter, pineapple, tonka syrup, lime).
The food menu is also an invitation to indulge and travel. Here, dishes are exotic and spicy, blending Mexican, Creole and Italian cuisines for starters, and Japanese and Indian for main courses.
You'll be tempted by the chicken curry with coconut and lemongrass, served with venerated rice (€14), the half-cooked swordfish with exotic virgin sauce and corn (€18), the cod accras with Creole sauce (€6) or the ribeye with Creole sauce and sweet potato fries (€22).
Or how to travel duringsummer 2019 without even leaving Paris!
