A strange address arrives at 25 rue Victor Massé, on the Pigalle side. The mysterious frontage surrounded by candles attracts the curious looks of the passers-by. A glance through the window reveals a counter with a subdued atmosphere behind which a barman is busy. The spot is much too hot to stop us: we push the door and at once our curiosity is rewarded. We find ourselves now at Yagō, an intimate and unusual bar which is the standard-bearer of what makes the charm of Pigalle.
As soon as we enter, we fall under the charm of this new spot which is the second address of Monkey. A pink marble counter lit up, rows of spirits stretching under terracotta colored arcades, and even a pole dance bar surrounded by a golden mosaic... this is the first atmosphere that Yagō offers us.
We are then invited to branch off to the left to discover the boudoir-style lounge, in a swirl of velvet, tapestries and cushions. We feel almost like we are in a movie, in the heart of a Belle Epoque brothel. We find here all that makes the charm of Pigalle, a district at the same time trendy and sulfurous which fascinates us.
At the bar, we are busy shaking new cocktails that evolve with the seasons. Some are inspired by well-known recipes but revisited with exotic flavors. Thus we discover their own version of the Cosmopolitan made with vodka infused with Bissap & Combawa, yuzu and pomegranate juice. We also fall for the gin infused with jasmine, pear juice, lemon, sugar syrup and champagne, lighter than the previous one.
Matcha lovers will be happy to taste a creation that honors their favorite tea with whiskey, honey and yuzu, a must try. Finally, another cocktail not to be missed, the one based on White Rum, Umeshu (plum liqueur) and plum juice: very fruity and greedy it should make the happiness of the sweet tooths.
To accompany these refined creations, Yagō invites us to taste a Nikkei cuisine based on raw fish. This might surprise some and yet you will find that the cocktails go very well with the different plates. The Toro tuna sashimi with spicy miso is just the right amount of spice, so that it can even suit those who are not too used to spicy flavors and the fish literally melts in your mouth. We also love the torched sea bream and aji limòn sashimi which seduced us with its pep and its slightly grilled and crispy flavors. Either way, we recommend trusting Yagō with your eyes closed to think outside the box.
That alone would have made Yagō a favorite spot in our eyes. But the bar prefers to take the concept even further. Do you remember the pole dancing part that is located at the entrance? Well if you want to try your hand at it or you can demonstrate your talent, you should know that you can freely use it! It is not all, since the place also vibrates with the rhythm of the DJ set while the weekend burlesque evenings and show of drag-queen follow one another. You will have understood it, it is the address to note absolutely for a perfect evening to enjoy Pigalle!
