While the terraces are being taken by storm thanks to the arrival of fine weather, the speakeasies are putting up a fight, much to our delight. Concealed behind a grocery store on rue Notre-Dame de Nazareth, this hidden bar won't remain a secret for long...
For L'Épicier, the talented trio have imagined a bar hidden behind a grocer's display. Once you've opened the door, you'll have to open a second one to discover the sumptuous decor of this warm and inviting bar.
On the ceiling, colorful lanterns, on the floor, a carpet. You can choose to sit at the counter on stools, on swings for more originality, or on small stools facing a few banquettes with cushions. We love the coffee tables customized with the famous " STOP " signs.
As for the menu, it inevitably invites you to travel, with names from the Orient such as the unpronounceable but delicious " Rawhajpoutalah " with homemade tonka/coffee syrup, lemon juice, egg white, orange blossom, Kahlúa coffee liqueur, whisky and bitter old fashioned fee brother.
We also fell for the highly acclaimed " Tété du Bled ", served Moroccan-style, with a teapot and a small glass. Behind this potion lies a delicious blend of lime Oleo saccharum, fresh Moroccan mint, Cuban rum, homemade mint tea soda and Pernod Absinthe spray. A cocktail that can be ordered alone or with others.
For the rest, opt for the " Sheratini " (lemon juice, rosewater, pomegranate juice, cardamom-infused vodka and Pineau des Charentes).
For lovers of soft cocktails, discover the " Maamoul " made with orange tea, date purée, pear juice and grapefruit juice.
And to accompany these mixtures, let yourself be tempted by oriental sweets such as msenmens or vegetable bricks.
So, are you ready to discover this very friendly bar hidden away in Paris?
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
