Whether you are from the Yvelines in search of real good pastries or just passing through Versailles in search of a tea room where you can have a break and make a delicious discovery, go and discover Atelier Gato, this new pastryshop-tearoom opened last December at 9 boulevard Saint-Antoine.
On the spot, one has the impression of being invited in a charming Versailles house. The pastry shop gives access to a courtyard terrace-café, shared with the Maison Végétale florist.
Here is a pretty wedding which brings a bucolic frame to our greedy pause and which allows all those, come to seek a cake to be shared, the occasion to accompany its pastry of a pretty bouquet to be offered or to be offered to brighten its beautiful table. So, if you want to kill two birds with one stone, especially for a party or a birthday, this is the ideal spot.
The pastry shop in Versailles that reveals itself to us, resembles theAtelier Gato in Guyancourt where the production is located, its big brother opened before the first confinement. It offers many chocolates, caramels, various pastries, different cakes, financiers, rolls, individual chocolate fondants, small and large nut tarts, chouquettes, large Savoy cakes, various individual cookies and loaves of sourdough bread.
On the spot, forget the individual pastries, you will only find a limited selection in a format for 4, to share. Ultra fresh, these pastries change every week according to the market and the chef's mood.
Except for the signature Lemon Tart that remains all year long, whether it's raining, snowing or windy, Antoine, the manager, warns us, all the other pastries are ephemeral and you have to check theAtelier Gato website or subscribe to the newsletter to know the cakes or rather "Gato" of the moment. Personally, we have a big weakness for the Paris-Brest which is regularly declined in different flavors, without any doubt one of the best Paris-Brest of Ile-de-France according to us.
If the Saint-Honoré and the Charlotte aux fruits rouges were the order of the day when we were there, it may not be the case anymore. Giant gourmet macaroons or crazy Paris-Brest, Raspberry Tart, Strawberry Tree or Crazy Choc, regularly come to delight the gourmands in search of real good fresh homemade pastries and seasonal.
One thing is sure, at Atelier Gato, no frozen, no industrial, you are in the home-made quality and based on fresh products. No surprises either, the cakes for 4 are at the unique price of 24€. Count 1€ for the croissants and chocolate breads, 3€ for the palms, Swiss brioches, cookies and Bostocks and 3,50€ for the chocolate fondant cake.
The pastry shop-tea room is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm without interruption, and on Sunday from 9 am to 1 pm. Do you want to treat yourself or order online?
