A multi-faceted place, Gast is open non-stop, offering a choice of pastries, brunches or bistronomic toasts, depending on the time of day.

In a small alleyway in the 1st arrondissement, a stone's throw from the bustling Rue de Rivoli, lies a large restaurant that has just opened its doors, open non-stop from morning to night. Gast, as it's known, has gone from being a bakery open from 9am, where you can grab a pastry on your way to work, to a place to brunch from 10am to 4pm, to a bistro after dark.

In the dining room, Siriwath Nguon Bunna, trained at Ferrandi and international establishments from Hong Kong to Sydney. In the bakery, artisan baker Killian Le Houérou (formerly of Akrame, Baudelaire and Sur-Mesure) celebrates the great classics of the genre - croissant, pain au chocolat and Swiss bread are all part of the menu - but also indulges in even more gourmet artisanal pastries, such as cookies, cakes, cinnamon rolls with pecans (€4.50) and vanilla flan (€8).

While they're best enjoyed in the morning, accompanied by a specialty coffee roasted by Nuances, viennoiseries and pastries also serve as desserts at lunchtime. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and not just on weekends, Gast offers an affordable brunch formula at €26, including a hot or cold drink (+€2 for both), croissant, yoghurt and granola, eggs Benedict or turkish eggs (your choice), cookie or cake; with an extra €5 to toast with a Bloody Mary or mimosa.

But you can also opt for an à la carte dish with a wide range of influences: Australian meat pie (15€), New York pastrami sandwich (16€), Parisian croque-monsieur (15€) or Californian avocado toast (15.50€). The choice of drinks is just as varied, with a host of black, pink, gold and matcha lattes (about 6€) to suit all tastes.

In the evening, Gast offers a more bistronomic menu to share with guests, including duck and ponzu brochettes, asparagus with pistachio and wild garlic, and black pudding croquettes with onions and caramelized apples. Plus a sixty-strong list of natural wines to toast the occasion!
