Vintage crockery, "Wes Andersonian" decor and a feeling of being at home: you're at the Auteuil Brasserie, just a stone's throw from the door of the same name. This winter, the vintage-chic establishment is offering two new appointments: a new breakfast formula and a mulled wine aperitif that will make you forget icy rain and grey skies for a moment.
Housed in an old railway station, the place has a real charm all of its own. Some will find a Californian ambience, while others will find a hint of Italy. In fact, it's all about Italy on the menu, whether it's for breakfast, with a range of Italian-style coffees (mocha, latte, con panna...), or for therosso & bianco mulled wine aperitif to accompany foccacia and squid à la romaine.
Copious to say the least of our breakfast on this rainy Saturday in January. My choice was the "Auteuil breakfast", with its detox juice, candied fruit panettone, granola banana honey fromage blanc and a double espresso. The kiwi/cucumber/mint/lemon juice... a marvel of refreshment! The pannettone, a kind of brioche with dried fruit, very good.
A huge bowl of fromage blanc granola later, and we're on the rooftop of the establishment, a magnificent green terrace that comes alive in the evening. Sheltered from the cold, under a cozy blanket, we enjoy the mulled wine recipes created by sommelier Nicolas Rebut, formerly ofHotel Meurice and Alain Ducasse in Monaco.
A great place to start a winter's day or evening in western Paris.
