A veritable institution in Italy, Gelateria La Romana is moving to France for the first time, setting up shop in Paris. By establishing its first French boutique in the heart of the vibrant Saint-Michel district, it offers us gourmands a veritable sweet universe to discover. More than just an ice cream parlour, Gelateria La Romana is a veritable tea room, where you can sit down all day long to savour frozen treats accompanied by good coffees, and soon in September, pastries too. Here, the ice creams are churned throughout the day to guarantee incomparable freshness.
On site, you'll discover a 90 m2 space, spread over two floors, offering around forty seats, including the terrace. The downstairs terrace and upstairs tea room are waiting for you. Upstairs, the glass-walled laboratory lets you watch the ice-cream maker at work all day long. We can see him milling fruit and turbinating ice creams according to demand.
The ice-cream shop has a rich history that began in 1947, in Rimini, in the heart of Romagna. The name "La Romana" is a tribute to the founder's granddaughter. It's passion and know-how that characterize the soul of these gelaterias, passed on and enriched by Vito Zucchi, who took over the business.
Mainly Italian ingredients, including home-grown hazelnuts and pistachios, sublimate their icy creations. Only the milk, cream and fruit are sourced in France.
At Gelateria La Romana, you can enjoy :
The house highly recommends the Sicilian brioche with ice cream and whipped cream, as well as the original ice cream toast. For our part, we loved the pistachio and hazelnut ice creams, not forgetting the house's signature flavor of lightly lemony vanilla cream.
Les Frappés are ultra-gourmand and ideal to take along for a stroll along the quays. In short, if you're craving gourmet ice cream in the Latin Quarter, why not let yourself be tempted? The boutique-café is open every day from 12:00 to 23:00.
Note that La Romana also has a keen eye on the environment and future generations. To this end, they are committed to minimizing the use of materials with an environmental impact and prefer to use recycled, natural, biodegradable and compostable packaging.
